Major causes of death include cancer, heart disease, stroke and lung dysfunction. Adding diabetes, chronic pain, anxiety and depression, covers major health problems. All these are related to low vagal nerve activity, the nerve bridging between the brain and the body. Prof. Gidron will review research showing that high vagal activity predicts a lower risk of and better prognosis in these diseases. Vagal activity is related to a healthy lifestyle and to brain activity crucial in emotional regulation. Mr Gidron discusses how the vagus can be activated via biofeedback and how this improves mental and physical health, decision making and human performance.
